Prednisolone Acetate Injectable Suspension U.S.P. is a corticosteroid medication used for anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive therapy in veterinary medicine. This prescription injectable suspension may help manage allergic reactions, inflammatory conditions, musculoskeletal disorders, and immune-mediated diseases in dogs, cats, horses, cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs. Administered via intramuscular or local injection, this medication provides targeted relief for various inflammatory conditions.

Composition: Each ml contains Prednisolone Acetate I.P. 10 mg and Benzyl Alcohol I.P. 0.945% v/v as preservative.

Dosage Guidelines

PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED - Veterinarian administration only

Dosage varies by species, condition severity, and administration route:

Key Contraindications

Do not use Prednisolone Acetate in animals with:

  • Active systemic fungal, viral, or bacterial infections (unless under specific veterinary guidance)

  • Known hypersensitivity to corticosteroids

  • Pregnancy (especially first trimester, unless benefits outweigh risks)

  • Diabetes mellitus (use with extreme caution)

  • Corneal ulcers (for ophthalmic conditions)

Most Common Side Effects

Monitor animals for:

  • Increased thirst and urination (polydipsia/polyuria)

  • Increased appetite and potential weight gain

  • Panting or behavioral changes

  • Gastrointestinal upset (vomiting, diarrhea)

  • Delayed wound healing with prolonged use
