Dosage Guidelines
Dose: As directed by the Veterinarian. Always follow your veterinarian's specific dosing instructions based on your pet's weight, condition, and medical history.
- Administer orally with or without food — giving with a small amount of food may reduce stomach upset
- Complete the full prescribed course even if your pet appears to improve early
- Do not crush tablets — Metronidazole has a bitter taste that may cause refusal if crushed
Key Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Metronidazole or nitroimidazole derivatives
- Pregnant or nursing animals — may cause birth defects; use only if clearly necessary under veterinary guidance
- Animals with severe liver disease or significantly impaired liver function
- Animals with active neurological disorders — use with extreme caution
- Avoid concurrent use with: Phenobarbital (may reduce Metronidazole effectiveness), Cyclosporine (may increase cyclosporine toxicity risk), Fluorouracil/5-FU (may increase 5-FU toxicity)
Common Side Effects
