MSD Animal Health Bravecto Fluralaner 112.5 mg for Dogs (2 kg – 4.5 kg) is a prescription chewable tablet for dogs that provides 3 months of protection against fleas and ticks. This medication treats flea infestations, kills multiple tick species (including Ixodes ricinus, Ixodes hexagonus, Ixodes scapularis, Ixodes holocyclus, Dermacentor reticulatus, Dermacentor variabilis, and Rhipicephalus sanguineus), and treats certain mite infestations including Demodex spp., Sarcoptic mange, and Otodectes spp. Bravecto works by targeting the nervous system of parasites, causing paralysis and death.
Dosage Guidelines:
PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED – Always follow your veterinarian's specific instructions.
- Dosing: One chewable tablet every 12 weeks (3 months)
- Administration: Give at or around the time of feeding; can be administered year-round
- Minimum Age: Safe for puppies 8 weeks and older
A single treatment of Bravecto also helps prevent transmission of Dipylidium caninum (Dog Tapeworm) from infected fleas to susceptible dogs for 3 months.
Key Contraindications:
- Dogs under 8 weeks of age or weighing less than 2 kg
- Dogs with a history of seizures (use with caution; consult veterinarian)
- Known hypersensitivity to fluralaner or any tablet ingredients
