FDC Virovir Famciclovir 250mg Tablets – Prescription Antiviral for Feline Herpesvirus
Virovir 250 Famciclovir works by interfering with DNA replication in the herpesvirus, preventing it from multiplying — it does not kill the virus or cure the infection, but it can help control symptoms and reduce viral shedding under veterinary supervision. This is a Schedule H prescription-only medication must only be used under veterinary guidance.
Composition:
- Each film-coated tablet contains: Famciclovir IP 250 mg
- Colour: Titanium Dioxide IP
Dosage: As directed by the veterinarian. Dosing must be determined entirely by the prescribing veterinarian based on the cat's weight, condition severity, and individual response. Do not administer without a specific veterinary prescription, and do not use dosing information found online or from other sources.

Contraindications and Cautions (General Veterinary Reference):
- Known allergy or hypersensitivity to Famciclovir or Penciclovir
- Cats with acute renal failure or liver disease — use with caution and only under veterinary guidance
- Pregnant or nursing cats — use only when the benefits outweigh the risks, as determined by a veterinarian
- Caution if the cat is also taking Probenecid, which can increase levels of the active form of Famciclovir
- Only give this medication to the animal for which it was specifically prescribed
Possible Side Effects:

- Increased urination has also been reported
