Product description

Bayrocin Tablets contain Enrofloxacin 150 mg, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat susceptible bacterial infections in dogs. This antimicrobial medication is effective against certain gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and may be prescribed for respiratory, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue infections when bacterial culture and sensitivity testing indicate appropriate use.

Dosage and Administration:

For Dogs:

  • Typical dosage: 5-20 mg per kg body weight once daily (exact dosage as prescribed by your veterinarian)
  • Duration: 7-14 days or longer depending on infection type, severity, and response to treatment
  • Administer orally with or without food
  • Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve to prevent antibiotic resistance
  • Follow your veterinarian's specific dosing instructions
  • Do not crush or break tablets unless instructed by your veterinarian

Example Dosing Guidelines (150 mg tablets - for reference only, follow veterinarian's prescription):

  • Small dogs (7.5-15 kg): Approximately ½ to 1 tablet daily
  • Medium dogs (15-30 kg): Approximately 1 to 2 tablets daily
  • Large dogs (30+ kg): Dose as prescribed by veterinarian

Contraindications and Precautions:

  • This is a prescription medication. Consult your veterinarian before use
  • Do NOT Use For: Puppies in rapid growth phase (generally under 8 months for small/medium breeds, under 12-18 months for large and giant breeds due to risk of cartilage damage), dogs with known hypersensitivity to enrofloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics, dogs with CNS disorders including epilepsy or history of seizures
  • Use with Extreme Caution: Pregnant or lactating dogs (use only if benefits clearly outweigh risks under strict veterinary supervision), dogs with severe kidney or liver disease, dehydrated animals, geriatric dogs
  • Drug Interactions: May interact with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, sucralfate, dairy products, iron supplements, theophylline, NSAIDs, cyclosporine, and other medications. Inform your veterinarian of all medications, supplements, and products your dog is currently receiving
  • Bacterial Culture Recommended: Ideally, bacterial culture and sensitivity testing should be performed before treatment to confirm appropriate antibiotic selection and minimize development of antibiotic resistance

Common Side Effects:

  • Gastrointestinal upset (vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, nausea)
  • Lethargy or mild behavioral changes
  • Cartilage and joint damage in growing dogs (can be permanent and serious)
  • Increased thirst (polydipsia) or urination (polyuria)
  • Central nervous system effects (restlessness, anxiety, dizziness, tremors, seizures in rare cases)
  • Retinal degeneration in cats (DO NOT USE IN CATS at dog doses)
  • Contact your veterinarian immediately if: Severe vomiting or diarrhea, seizures, loss of coordination, difficulty walking, joint pain or lameness, behavioral changes, allergic reactions (facial swelling, hives, difficulty breathing), or any unusual symptoms occur

Storage Requirements:

  • Store at room temperature between 15-30°C
  • Keep in original container, protected from light and moisture
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets
  • Do not use after expiration date printed on package

Important Safety Information:

FOR ANIMAL USE ONLY - Keep out of reach of children. This is a prescription veterinary medication.

Important Notice: Prescription veterinary antibiotic—use only under a veterinarian’s supervision after confirmed or suspected bacterial infection, ideally with culture and sensitivity testing. Misuse can promote antibiotic resistance. Formulated for dogs only—do not use in cats (risk of blindness). Avoid use in growing large-breed puppies unless life-saving. Complete the full prescribed course and do not share with other pets. Veterinary monitoring may be needed, especially for long-term use or dogs with health conditions.
