MSD Animal Health Bravecto Fluralaner 500 mg chewable tablets for dogs are a prescription flea and tick treatment that provides up to 3 months of protection. This medication treats flea infestations, kills multiple tick species (including Ixodes ricinus, Ixodes hexagonus, Ixodes scapularis, Ixodes holocyclus, Dermacentor reticulatus, Dermacentor variabilis, and Rhipicephalus sanguineus), and treats Demodicosis caused by Demodex spp. mites, Sarcoptic mange, and Otodectes spp. mite infestations in dogs. Bravecto is formulated as a highly palatable chewable tablet for easy administration.
Dosage Guidelines:
PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED – Administer only as directed by your veterinarian.
For Dogs Weighing >10–20 kg (22–44 lbs):
- Dose: 1 chewable tablet (500 mg fluralaner)
- Frequency: Once every 12 weeks (3 months)
- Administration: Give at or around the time of feeding
- Minimum Age: 8 weeks and older
A single treatment of Bravecto also helps prevent transmission of Dipylidium caninum (Dog Tapeworm) from infected fleas to susceptible dogs for 3 months.
Key Contraindications:
- Puppies under 8 weeks of age
- Dogs weighing less than 2 kg (4.4 lbs)
- Dogs with a history of seizures (use with caution; consult veterinarian)
- Dogs with known hypersensitivity to fluralaner or tablet ingredients
- Bravecto can be used in breeding, pregnant, and lactating dogs; consult your veterinarian before use
Common Side Effects: The most frequently reported side effects include: Vomiting, Decreased appetite, Diarrhea, Lethargy, Flatulence. Contact your veterinarian immediately if severe side effects occur.
