Petrodoxim-200 is a veterinary broad-spectrum antibiotic tablet containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil IP 200 mg per tablet, formulated as a dispersible tablet for easy oral administration. It is suitable for both dogs and cats and is to be used only under the supervision of a registered veterinary practitioner.
Composition (per tablet)
- Cefpodoxime Proxetil IP: 200 mg (equivalent to Cefpodoxime)
- Excipients: Tartrazine, q.s.
- Colour: Tartrazine
Dosage
- Dogs: 5–10 mg/kg orally once daily. Should be administered for 2–3 days beyond cessation of clinical signs, up to a maximum of 28 days
- Cats: 5–10 mg/kg orally once or in two divided doses
- Or as directed by the veterinarian
Contraindications & Warnings
- Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics
- Use with caution in animals with renal impairment — dose adjustment may be required under veterinary supervision
- Use in pregnant or lactating animals only if the benefit outweighs the risk — consult your veterinarian
- Misuse of antibiotics may lead to antimicrobial resistance — always complete the full prescribed course
- Consult your veterinarian before use if the animal is on other medications
