MSD Animal Health Bravecto Fluralaner 1000 mg chewable tablets are a prescription veterinary medication for dogs weighing >20–40 kg (44–88 lbs). This long-acting treatment provides 3 months of protection against fleas and ticks, and treats specific mite infestations including Demodicosis caused by Demodex spp. mites, Sarcoptic mange, and Otodectes spp. mite infestations in dogs. Bravecto is formulated as a highly palatable chewable tablet for easy administration.
Dosage Guidelines:
PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED – Administer only as directed by your veterinarian.
For Dogs Weighing >20–40 kg (44–88 lbs):
- Dose: 1 chewable tablet (1000 mg fluralaner)
- Frequency: Once every 12 weeks (3 months)
- Administration: Give at or around the time of feeding
- Minimum Age: 8 weeks and older
A single treatment of Bravecto also helps prevent transmission of Dipylidium caninum (Dog Tapeworm) from infected fleas to susceptible dogs for 3 months.
Key Contraindications:
- Puppies under 8 weeks of age or weighing less than 2 kg (4.4 lbs)
- Dogs with a history of seizures (use with caution; consult veterinarian)
- Known hypersensitivity to fluralaner or tablet ingredients
- Bravecto can be used in breeding, pregnant, and lactating dogs; consult your veterinarian before use
Common Side Effects: Most dogs tolerate Bravecto well. The most commonly reported side effects include: Vomiting, Decreased appetite, Diarrhea, Lethargy, Flatulence. Contact your veterinarian if side effects persist or worsen.
